Why do we buy Easter eggs?
There's no better way to celebrate Easter than with a chocolate Easter egg although I tend to buy smaller one’s each year for the weight watchers in the family. So why do we buy them? It was a pagan custom adapted by the Christian church as a symbol of new life and came to represent the resurrection. Originally, chicken or duck eggs were decorated in bright colours with vegetable dye and charcoal. The unsurpassed Easter egg gifts were the jewelled creations made by Faberge in the 19th Century for the Russian Czar – now museum pieces.
Home Décor Eggstras – Chicks, Bunnies and Pastels
The Spring season seems to start with home decor featuring bunnies, chicks and pretty pastel colours which, apparently, are going to be a massive trend in interiors and fashion this year.
So why wait, I said to myself. But choosing your favourite paint colour is like deciding which is your favourite chocolate. Although, I think it’s easier to mix up paint colours using the paint matching technologies than picking just one chocolate! Therefore, I’m starting by investing in some pretty ornaments and, of course, I can’t resist the tastefully handcrafted Things Vintage pastel-hued objects and putting all my eggs in one pot!
As mentioned in last week’s blog, the April birthstone is the diamond and is considered a symbol of everlasting love and the flowers of the month are the sweet pea and daisy – more about these next week.
