Ways to Decorate for Autumn
Normally I don’t do seasonal decorating other than for Christmas. But, it’s impossible to miss the many photos of pumpkins and the October Halloween Witches and Haunted Houses on the internet this month. This inspired me to look at how to add some of the Autumn colours to my home. The decorators and designers suggest that we should “start with a neutral palette” – cream, white or grey and “rely on nature or buy faux”. Therefore, my creamy-white based dining room will have an Autumnal centrepiece on the table.
Creative Terracotta Centrepieces
I never knew that pumpkins came in all sorts of shapes, sizes and colours! However, I shall add traditional small orange pumpkins to my table top centrepiece. Together with terracotta pots from Palm Pot and Peony’s Black and White Collection for candles and some evergreen branches, I’ll add a lantern with candles. Our designer, Sara, said “pots filled with pine cones, votives and candleholders from our other plant pot and home décor collections together with an assortment of leaves and berries will create a casual arrangement if you’re on a budget”.
Getting Ready for Halloween
And finally, a carved-out pumpkin for Halloween on the 31st October is something I’m thinking of doing for my porch - must find a video on the web for instructions! And something I mustn’t forget is to buy some Trick or Treat sweets for children – spooky juicy chews and chocolate pumpkins.

September and October Birthday Flowers
