Boho Vintage = Bohemian Style
While I found no rules when researching the meaning of Bohemian (Boho) decorating, it seems that warm colours are common, as are metallics and jewel tones. The designers suggest accessorising with purple, ginger, auburn and teal blue, and say, “combining and layering colours is what makes this style unique”. While this mixing and matching of colours seems to be the key to Boho, white is used as background for these gorgeous tones.
Natural materials plus silk and chenille for cushion covers and family heirlooms, handmade items, and objects from your travels are right at home in your Boho room. Rather than overhead lights, multiple lanterns, candles and table lamps are used as decorative pieces.
The professional decorators recommend bringing your room to life with ferns and plants. “Not only do they lend vibrancy to a room, but plants also improve air quality, so the more the merrier” said one magazine. “And, consider succulents which are great for people with a less-than-green thumb.”
Finally, another designer said, “keep in mind that while Bohemian style tends to be eclectic, it can still be chic and glamorous”.
Growing vegetables in Pots
There are some vegetables that grow easily in pots. The RHS (Royal Horticultural Society) web site has a very informative section on growing vegetables in containers. They suggest: Tomatoes, French beans, Herbs, Radishes, Rocket, Chillies & Peppers, Salad leaves, Salad onions. I also found a really useful tip on the internet which said: “The productivity of a garden pot improves when you add a small trellis for support allowing your plants to use the vertical space.”
April Birthday Ideas
The April birthstone, diamond, is considered a symbol of everlasting love and is thought to provide the wearer with better relationships and inner strength. A diamond, apparently, has even more benefits such as balance, clarity and abundance.
Daisies and sweet peas are the flowers for April and we are in the process of creating some limited-edition pots – so watch this space.
